The 13th Annual Latino Education Conference will be held March 30, 2017 at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, New Jersey.
This conference is one of the largest indoor events of its kind in the United States and it is always planned to empower parents with the tools they need to assist their children in the education process. Over 800 parents, students, and school personnel representing dozens of school districts attended. The theme of the conference was “Funding our Schools: Challenges Ahead”
The full program will include keynote presentations, exhibitors, educational workshops, and cultural and folkloric presentations.
The conference started in the evening of Wednesday, March 29th with a meeting and reception for presenters and school personnel. The program continued with a formal breakfast on Thursday, March 30th.
Dr. Charles Mitchel presented a resounding and inspirational speech that was welcomed by the parents in attendance.
The luncheon featured the annual ‘Nuestros Niños” Award presentation. This year’s awardees included Cuqui Rivera of the Latino Action Network, and Ulises Díaz, of Horizon Blue Cross Blue
Shield. The corporate award went to Grace Kennedy/La Fe Foods.
Parents, teachers, and college students participated free of costs.
The 14th Annual Conference will be held in Trenton in late March 2018.
